What Sound Looks Like, explores the idea that sounds are actions that carry meaning, communicated through the vibration of air molecules as they travel through space.
“Forgotten noises” made by outdated technology, such as a fax machine, a dot matrix printer and a television set, were captured as waveform audio clips and then converted into raw format image files. The resulting transcoded files were then animated to show how those original “old media” sounds might appear as they move through space.
